Colonel Curtis G. Whiteford Challenges Government Charges: Whiteford to Proclaim Innocence in Court
TRENTON, N.J. (BusinessWire EON) February 13, 2007 --
COL Whiteford claims he has been unfairly accused after being caught up in a larger government investigation where indeed, wrongdoing did occur. COL Whiteford regrets deeply that the government has mischaracterized the facts in such a way as to cast a shadow upon his service to his country. COL Whiteford has cooperated with the investigation, answered questions by investigators, and done everything that investigators asked him to do.
COL Whiteford volunteered to submit to a polygraph examination. He was subjected to a series of three examinations covering the issues set forth in the government's allegations. All three examinations were evaluated as No Deception Indicated. The polygraph examinations were performed by John Swartz. Mr. Swartz is a former Federal examiner for the United States Department of Justice/DEA who has conducted examinations worldwide since 1986.
"I am committed to working within the legal process to achieve resolution on this issue," said Col Whiteford. "I take these accusations very seriously, but I am here to defend my honor and clear my name of all charges against me."
"COL Whiteford is confident in the justice system and looks forward to his day in Court to defend the allegations line by line," said Daphne Pattison, Whiteford's defense attorney.
"COL Whiteford is a man of integrity, morals, strong spiritual beliefs, and commitment to family," said Pattison. "He served 11 1/2 years in the Army, over 10 years in the Army National Guard, and 3 years in the Army Reserves. He volunteered for service in Iraq, because he truly believed it was his duty and responsibility to help re-build their country. A military pilot, he was assigned to be the Chief Staff Officer at a CPA with no training in civil affairs or nation rebuilding and no experience in foreign service. His work was difficult and dangerous. He did what was right. He did his job the best he could with the resources provided."
COL Whiteford has been married to Carol Whiteford for 30 years. They have a strong marriage in which they are raising 8 children. COL Whiteford has never been arrested or convicted of anything in his lifetime.
Colonel Whiteford appeared in a Federal courthouse in New Jersey on February 13th and entered a plea of not guilty to all charges.
